Your Leadership Journey helps newer and soon-to-be leaders identify and face the challenges of transition, figure out how to set priorities and establish themselves as trustworthy leaders who foster the abilities and morale of their teams and acknowledge their own room for improvement.
Making the transition from team member to leader is both exciting and challenging as becoming a leader is a career change, not just a slight shift in the work you do.
It is common for newer leaders to struggle in making the transition to a leadership role. Often promoted because of technical skills, ironically, you will often have little opportunity to use those familiar skills. Instead, you might find yourself scrambling to set the right priorities and merely get work done. On top of that, you might also find yourself in the potentially awkward position of managing people with whom you used to work side by side.
This course encourages you to think about the transitional challenges that newer leaders face and how to handle those challenges.
You will be introduced to three key attributes—the Leadership Differentiators—that provide a solid foundation on which to build your skills as a leader. You will also gain tools and models to support you in understanding others’ expectations in your new leadership role, and in viewing this from your new vantage point.
