The New Manager: Developing a Growth Mindset Workshop

This activity aim to assist new managers in developing all the key management and influencing skills to enhance both their own performance and that of the staff they manage.

This course encourages you to think about the challenges that newer leaders face and how to handle those challenges. 

You will be introduced to key areas that provide a solid foundation on which to build your skills as a leader.

You will explore the management role including the attributes of a proactive manager, employing a growth mindset, and understanding and working with different personalities and social styles.

You will discover key insights about the importance of communication and the characteristics and challenges of managing your staff’s performance. You will also learn the techniques and tactics of delegation and coaching.

Upon satisfactory completion of this activity you will be able to:
  • Apply the principles of a Growth Mindset to your management role.
  • Use transactional analysis and a change model to modify behaviour.
  • Assess your management style and development needs.
  • Understand roadblocks in communication and how to avoid them.
  • Communicate in a manner which promotes buy-in and co-operation from team members.
  • Build a higher degree of emotional intelligence and emotional maturity.
  • Carry out courageous conversation with staff.
  • Manage the harder issues of performance without damaging relationships.
  • Give and receive feedback effectively – both modifying and motivating.
  • Delegate and coach staff.
  • Apply team building and core skills to motivate your team.

On completion of the workshop, participants will have learnt all of the key skills to manage their staff and the day-to-day challenges of their role successfully.

They will understand the skills, attributes and behaviours required, assessed their own strengths and development needs and be able to communicate effectively in a variety of challenging situations. They will have also learnt how to raise performance issues, delegate and coach effectively and know how to build and motivate their team.
