The NZ Tax Team specialise in analysing and interpreting new tax rules.

They will be in around the country in May, to keep you informed on policy and legislation changes, and how it will affect you and your clients.

As our NZ Tax & Financial Services Leader John, manages our advocacy activities and consultative groups, and presents our submissions to Government and Select Committees.

Jolayne Trim (CA, LLB), Senior Tax Advocate
Jolayne has a strong interest in tax policy design and its impact for all New Zealanders. She builds and solidifies our strong relationship with Inland Revenue Policy and Strategy. As well as working on our policy and legislative submissions, Jolayne focuses on Financial Services member queries and submissions. Jolayne also has an interest in the tax and financial services implications of the treatment of cryptocurrencies.

Lindsay Ng (FCA), Senior Tax Advocate
Lindsay works in a range of areas, including tax policy, legislation and tax administration. She writes submissions to Government and Inland Revenue proposals covering most of the statements released by IR’s Tax Counsel Office and provides comment on draft rulings and standard practice statements. Lindsay leads CA ANZ’s advocacy activities on tax operational matters, working closely with our National Tax Liaison Group to identify, progress and resolve operational issues impacting members with Inland Revenue.

Teri Welham (FCA), Senior Tax Advocate
Teri specialises in the practical and is our in-house research guru. Prior to joining CA ANZ she led and managed the CCH Questions & Answers service. Teri has had practical experience in both public practice and corporate environments. She can tell you about anything to do with the calculation of tax and return filing for taxpayers big and not so big.

The tax team has many years of experience (over 120 years between them) and use this to put a practical spin on changes to tax laws or IR practice. During the roadshow the team will explain what’s changed – and why - and also seek feedback on how these changes are affecting you.
