This activity will outline the basics of good minute writing including planning, structure, layout and methods of recording discussion. It will cover language elements; tone and style, choosing appropriate words; composition of sentences and paragraphs; and how to maintain simplicity and focus while avoiding jargon and clichés, Editing techniques will also be covered to ensure that your grammar and punctuation is error free and professionally polished.

Upon satisfactory completion of this activity, you will be able to:
• Identify the key skills required for effective minute taking and use these to plan and prepare for meetings.
• Record discussions and summarise agreements using the appropriate methods for tone, style, length and wording.
• Apply the specific techniques to help take minutes for complex and technical meetings with unfamiliar content.
