Leading and Managing Technical Professionals Workshop

To develop all the key skills for successful project team leadership in a manner which promotes consultation and team member self-management.


This activity will outline the people side of project management including delegation and coaching, problem solving and decision making. You will learn how to lead and motivate a team, working with different personalities and social styles and to express yourself constructively, through appropriate choice of words. Key skills you will develop are listening and encouraging input, problem solving, negotiating solutions, handling shortfalls on performance, as well as the effective facilitation of meetings and team briefings.

Upon satisfactory completion of this activity you will be able to:

  • Recognise the different personalities and social styles and how to work with these effectively.
  • Give constructive feedback to help modify and motivate performance.
  • Identify the five key behaviours for successful people leadership and adopt these behaviours in your own leadership style.

Acquire the key skills for leading and motivating project teams successfully and handling the problems that go hand-in-hand with managing people and teams.
