About

In this session you will learn about different forms of communication including verbal and non-verbal, and how to express your point of view effectively through words and actions in a number of situations. Developing your ability to communicate will build personal confidence to work with different personalities and behaviours. You will learn techniques to help you avoid the barriers to effective communication, as well as how to handle criticism and other forms of manipulation.

Upon satisfactory completion of this activity you will be able to:
  • Communicate your message effectively in a variety of situations.
  • Stand your ground under pressure or modify behaviour. 
  • Speak up in a group situation.
  • Demonstrate key interpersonal skills to achieve positive results. 
  • Give constructive feedback effectively.
  • Raise difficult issues without damaging relationships or being aggressive.
  • Manage competing requests and how to say ‘no’ without being unhelpful.
