The Wellington Women Accountants SIG warmly invites you to our upcoming event, graciously hosted by BDO. Join us for an engaging panel discussion exploring the diverse career pathways available within the field of accounting.

The event will feature a guided live panel discussion followed by an interactive Q&A session, concluding with networking opportunities over drinks and nibbles.

Our esteemed panelists will share insights into their unique career journeys, including their backgrounds, motivations for diverging from the traditional accounting pathway, and reflections on how their accounting expertise has shaped their current ventures.

Additionally, they will offer valuable perspectives on the role of networking and relationship-building in fostering career opportunities.

Natalie Ferguson - Co-founder Powrsuit

Nat caught the entrepreneurial bug at university, and at 19, she embarked on her first venture. Two decades on, Nat has experienced multiple successful exits, a few painful failures and everything in between. Before it was acquired in 2021, she grew her last startup Hatch, into a thriving investing platform with nearly 200,000 customers. Now, she’s immersed in launching Powrsuit, a leadership platform for women.

Nicola Cranfield - Owner of Cranfields

Nicola Cranfield, a Canterbury University alumna, launched her career in auditing at Coopers and Lybrand on the Terrace following her studies. After becoming a Chartered Accountant, she relocated to London, where she worked with Heal's, innovating their bespoke furniture ordering system. Drawn to the vibrancy of retail, Nicola returned to New Zealand to found and manage Cranfields retail stores in Auckland and Melbourne. For the past five years, Nicola has led the Wellington store, recently announcing its closure.

Bernadette Scanlon - CEO at Nicholson Consulting

Bernadette Scanlon, a Victoria University of Wellington alumna, boasts a diverse career spanning tax consultancy to organizational design. Her professional journey is underpinned by a resolute commitment to effecting positive change. Beyond her professional endeavours, she prioritises values of kindness, empathy, and non-judgmentalism, fostering inclusive work environments and effective leadership. Bernadette's dedication to creating a positive community impact, rooted in personal experiences and a belief in social justice, underscores her unwavering commitment to excellence and making a difference.
