Develop the skills for conducting difficult conversations and the ability to communicate openly without damaging working relationships.

Content Description

This activity will teach you the process behind preparing for uncomfortable conversations and developing the mindset required to successfully address problems. It will cover discussion of what makes certain conversations ‘difficult’, how to develop self-awareness of triggers and inner dialogue, emotional maturity and identifying appropriate language and behaviours. These skills will be useful in standing your ground under pressure and giving and receiving feedback effectively.

Learning Outcomes

Upon satisfactory completion of this activity you will be able to:
Recognise the principles that allow us to have courageous conversations.
Use the words and behaviours that allow for positive outcomes to courageous conversations.
Avoid being manipulated or sidetracked during difficult conversations.
Handle opposition and negative feedback constructively.


The ability to have a difficult conversation that is constructive and supportive of yourself and the other person. Acquire the skills to contribute effectively in the workplace, creating influence in conversations and meetings.
