Content Description

The four key steps of coaching will be covered, enabling you to prepare and plan effectively for a coaching session, to identify your coaching goals and apply them to each case. You will learn how to determine performance indicators as evidence of achievement and apply methods, including ‘one minute manager/leader’ principles, to achieve desired outcomes. You will develop the tools to communicate your desired message effectively and inspire proactivity in others, Plus, you will learn techniques for conducting reviews and providing constructive feedback as well as how to check for understanding and taking corrective action.

Learning Outcomes

Upon satisfactory completion of this activity you will be able to:
• Implement a structured ‘project management’ approach to coaching sessions.
• Coach and train staff more effectively.
• Provide constructive feedback which motivates the learner and modifies their behaviour.
• Conduct reviews to provide ongoing support, assess capability and ensure continued progress.


Acquire the skills and attributes of best coaching practice, and develop the ability to coach in a manner which motivates the learner and produces a positive outcome.
